I am patient and empathetic with an extensive background in care gained during my time as a home care worker and SEN support worker. I am caring and understanding and love to help people. I relish a career where I feel I can improve people’s lives. I have a good sense of humour and believe that laughing is the best medicine. I previously worked as a teacher for many years before realising I got much more satisfaction from the pastoral and care side so I moved to an SEN school where I worked with students with autism ADHD and EBD. From there I went into domiciliary care and loved it. I did my first aid training, manual handling training and many other courses. I currently work in a residential home and have continued my CPD I have a care certificate, I have completed my medication training and I am currently studying for a level 3 in adult social care. I care very much for vulnerable people and go out of my way to make sure I offer outstanding care. I am often commended on the care I give. Along with cares, I do the cooking at the residential home. I make healthy and nutritious food for a variety of diets including diabetic and soft food. I am happy to help out with general house duties, cooking shopping, pet care and I can take clients out wherever they want as I have car business insurance. I have worked in care with individuals with many conditions including dementia and I have developed a good understanding of the emotional needs and the concerns that come with being afraid and vulnerable due to this condition. I have witnessed the emotional effect it has on families and loved ones, and I have complete empathy and understanding of the process having had personal experience when my Nan developed advanced dementia; I was with her from the start, sharing her fears, but we still laughed a lot. The love was still there between us & the experience has helped me to understand the different stages the individual and their loved ones go through. I understand how frightening it can all be, but I also know that there are still many happy times to be had and that with a positive outlook and the right care, life will go on. I have an enhanced DBS, liability insurance and I have business insurance on my car so I am able to take clients out. I thoroughly enjoy care work, offering support to the elderly and their families, and look forward to being able to offer support on the Curram platform.
