I am a 'people person' and I care about supporting others in need. I thrive on enabling people to stay as independent as possible, with care and support where necessary. I firmly believe that a good carer needs to have these qualities, plus have empathy, to be a good listener, be respectful and provide care and support in a dignified way. I have worked in a carehome for the elderly and those with dementia for 2 years in the past, I also have supported and cared for elderly family members and friends including my father who has vascular dementia and Alzheimer's. I have provided live in carer cover (for a week per shift) once or twice a month to a 93 year old client who has dementia. I have experience of supporting adults who have autism and learning disabilities. I also have experience of providing care and support to brain injury/stroke clients including moving and handling, assisting with transfers to keep the client safe, personal care, emotional support and to access the community, as well as domestic support. I also have experience of supporting a visually impaired client in a similar way but also support with admin tasks, telephone calls, general support. I have medication administration, moving and handling and Covid19 training and certificates. I love being able to support and care for others, but at the same time, be able to empower them where appropriate. I love reading, going for coffee and socialising, I am easy to talk to! I have been a care now for around 4 years, I have a genuine passion for caring for others! Being a carer requires empathy, patience, and a strong sense of connection to the people you support. I find joy in the practical aspects of the role, like cooking and personal care, but also in the emotional connections I can make either through a friendly chat, singing, doing a crossword or knitting together. I appreciate being able to provide the care that the person needs at any given time. Emotional or medical support equally I welcome new people and opportunities and enjoy the work as it is so fulfilling, knowing I am making a positive impact on someone's life.

I am looking for work within the area that is close to my home of EN1, where I have abundance of access to public transport. I feel as though I am suited to be a carer as I have many years of experience in the care field from domiciliary and working with a young adult with learning disabilities for almost two years. During my domiciliary work, I met many people from different walks of life. I was able to adapt to their beliefs and needs while providing care that was safe and comfortable for both the service users and myself. On the other hand, during my time working with my most service user with learning disabilities as well as physical disability. I understand how it can be challenging but yet rewarding. I understand the responsibilities of the role, assisting with personal care, housework/maintenance, shopping, keeping up to date with appointments, attending activities within the community as well as within the home if it isn’t possible to go out, book keeping/daily logs of service user’s welfare and well-being throughout the day, reporting to manager if any issues arise that I’m not capable of handling. I have always had strong desire to help people, the reason I have been in care for the last 20 years. I am good at relating to people and making them feel comfortable in order to earn their trust which I feel I do well. I have worked with both adults and children in hospital, nursing homes, rehabilitation centres and private home settings. I have been a complex carer for about 8 years. I have experience working with Neuro disabilities, cancer patients, multiple sclerosis, Palliative care, Oxygen therapy (ventilation), brain injury, peg feeding, spinal cord injury, Dementia, bladder and bowel disfunction and learning disabilities.
