I am a very positive energetic lady who enjoys company, talking, and listening! I am very efficient and quick in my tasks. I have been a live-in carer for four years and have done domiciliary care as well. I chose to get experience by working at different companies and have a variety of experiences, including but not limited to dementia (Alzheimer's, vascular), Parkinson's, spinal injuries, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, palliative, mental health, anxiety, depression, cancer, stroke and respite care. My experience as a nurse has helped me understand the necessity of helping people stay independent for as long as possible. I am available to assist with respite care and live in care . Most importantly I have empathy, and really try my best in any given situation. I have a positive attitude with a smile on my face ;-) I'm married, have three grown children and two grandchildren. I love to travel and am available to travel to other destinations. I have good general knowledge of a variety of topics and am always interested in new ideas. I am told I am an above average cook and can follow recipes and instructions on individuals likes . All my training is up to date . I can drive manual and automatic vehicles.

I have 5+ years of experience in care and have had the privilege of caring for many wonderful people and I also have cared for some until their passing. I believe that every individual requires to be given support through their conditions with dignity and respect and to also be supported to have a fulfilling life in whichever stage they may be of their life. At the heart of all care is the individual first and making sure their care needs are met. I strongly believe in person centred care. I also have supported other carers about health and safety when supporting our service users. These are some of my strengths and also knowing that kindness, compassion, honesty come naturally when i know that caring for others is my calling. Its my desire to treat people in my care with respect, dignity and with the best care as per my training and experience. Being a Carer is taking heed of my clients needs and wishes and to do my best to perform them, making the environment a pleasant one for both the client and myself. I am patient and kind, compassionate and am able to work with people from all different departments in the total care of my client including their families. I am happy to work in a home with animal, cats or dogs as I have always had animals, although I am a cat lover, as I wanted my kids to grow up with them and when coming to UK, I flew my daughters cat over to the UK to be with us. I like cooking easy and nutritional foods for my clients, I would sit down with them and discuss what they would like to eat and do my best to make it. Another thing of importance is being able to take my clients out into the community to mix socially or to visit friend or attend church. On waking my client in the morning with a smile and a cheerful demeanor, is very important, making sure they are ready to proceed with the daily tasks and personal care, having meals and spending time doing what they like, crosswords or puzzles, or just chatting. I would naturally do what is required of me according to the clients care plan, making sure they are taking their medication as indicated. Mostly it will be following my clients lead and always getting their consent and the right to choose if they are mentally capable, but at the same time making sure that I have some down time to rest and do what makes me happy, such as a hobby, reading, a walk. Its necessary for me to have a 2 hour break each day. There will be a surcharge if I have to get up twice at night and if this occurs a lot, I would contact a family member and arrange for them to help me get some extra rest and recharge, because this will ensure than I can work at my full potential.
